The FIE invites independent service providers based in Asia, with native Mandarin-speaking expertise, to submit proposals for managing social media channels and delivering social media coverage of FIE competitions. The objective is to strengthen the FIE’s presence across major Chinese social media platforms, with a particular focus on reaching and engaging Gen Z audiences.

The provider will set up and grow new accounts on Douyin, WeChat, and Xiaohongshu (RedNote), alongside managing FIE’s existing Weibo account.

The focus is on translating and localising existing content into Chinese, modifying graphics/videos for Mandarin audiences with a youthful, trend-savvy tone, engaging with the community, and suggesting Chinese trend-driven content ideas for our on-site video production team.

The selected provider will collaborate with the FIE Communications, Marketing and TV department for coordination and approval of messaging and deliverables. The assignment will be performed remotely; presence at the competition venues is not required.

Scope of services

The provider will be expected to:

Set up and manage new FIE accounts on Douyin, WeChat (Channel and Official Account), and Xiaohongshu (RedNote), in addition to maintaining our existing Weibo presence.

Translate and localise existing social media content (posts, captions, video subtitles) into Mandarin Chinese, adapting tone, humour, and cultural references to resonate with Gen Z audiences.

Edit graphics and videos to replace or add Mandarin text/subtitles, resizing and reformatting for each platform's specs

Publish and schedule content across all four platforms, adapted to each platform's format and tone (e.g., Douyin short-form video/WeChat Channel vs. WeChat official account content vs. Xiaohongshu lifestyle-style posts), keeping a Gen Z-first voice and aesthetic throughout

Monitor and respond to comments, direct messages, and community discussions in a timely, on-brand, and culturally relevant manner

Suggest content ideas tied to Chinese Gen Z trends (memes, challenges, sounds, formats), working with our video production team to plan on-site filming opportunities with athletes at competitions

Track engagement metrics and report on community growth and sentiment, with attention to what resonates with younger audiences

Coordinate with the core FIE communications team to align on messaging, event coverage, and campaign timing

Profile sought
